The ibis Rouen Centre Rive Droite is the ideal base from which to discover the capital of Normandy. The historic district is just a 10-minute walk away.

Day 1 excursion starts with a visit to Evreux, famed for it’s cathedral, the episcopal palace and many other historic buildings. We then travel to Monet’s gardens at Giverny, the inspiration for some of his most famous paintings, with the water garden, Japanese bridge and the water lily pond.

Day 2 excursion takes us  to the dramatic coastline to the north of Rouen. We will visit Fécamp on market day, standing in a dramatic location along the Alabaster Coast surrounded by the tallest cliffs in Normandy, reaching over 300 feet in height. The towns dramatic setting has always attracted attention and, in the Middle Ages, a Benedictine abbey was established here, which we will visit for a guided tour and tasting of where the now famous Bénédictine liqueur was invented from a recipe handed down by the monks. We then continue on to Étretat, the magnificent and famous cliffs of which are one of Normandy’s most popular tourist spots, and admire the 3 stunning arches carved out of beautiful white limestone. 

You will also have a free day to explore the many small streets of Rouen and enjoying market day. Walk the medieval cobbled streets and admire the half-timbered houses, Gothic monuments, the magnificent Gros Horloge (Great Clock) with the oldest mechanism of its kind in France, and the Market Square where Joan of Arc was executed in 1431. 

Our return journey will include a stop at St-Valery-sur-Somme, a lovely medieval town with a beautiful promenade along the bay and picturesque harbour
